West Suffolk Rifle Club
Full-bore precision target shooting in the heart of East Anglia
Welcome
Challenge Yourself
Full-bore target shooting for all Suffolk shooters.
West Suffolk RC was formed in 1968 as a home for full-bore target shooters from the west of the county. After the storms of 1987, the club expanded further, welcoming members from Bromeswell RC whose range close to Woodbridge had been forced to close when the storm damaged its safety area. Living nearby is not a requirement and many members are based outside the county.
Today, West Suffolk RC has around sixty members, men and women, ranging in age from 20 to 82. Club members shoot full-bore calibre target rifles (usually 7.62mm) on the military range at Thetford in Norfolk where target distances are 300, 500 and 600 yards. The club also hosts occasional shoots at the Barton Road range in Cambridgeshire which has distances up to 1200 yards.
Although West Suffolk RC doesn’t have club premises, there is a close and friendly sense of sporting community when we get together to shoot.
Many WSRC members also shoot at Bisley and some are selected to represent Suffolk and other countries in national competitions, as well as representing their country in international competitions and tours.

Shooting Events
All shoots are run to strict NRA rules.
Members pay a small range fee each time they shoot. The club sells ammunition at the range although some members prefer to bring their own. Make your ammo choice known when you enter a particular shoot.
Most often, our shoots take place on a Saturday morning, meeting at 8am for a 9am first detail, clear up and end at 4pm. We have also experimented with half-day shoots at one range only.
Calendar
Currently, like many UK target rifle clubs, West Suffolk RC is challenged by not being able to reserve range dates much in advance. Watch this space and we’ll update it as soon as we’re sure of availability.
